“In February 2023, while photographing art installations at Bombay beach with two friends, a lady dressed in white walked into the water of Salton Sea. She had a white rabbit masked covering her whole head. The few people on the beach were transfixed and photographed her as she started using the swing. Little did we know she had a photographer friend there doing a project with her as a model. We were asked to hold on to our photos till they published theirs a month later” -Alex Dejecacion

“I snapped a photo of this impeccably dressed gentleman during a photo walk in Downtown LA. I remember turning a corner and feeling like I had been transported to another time as we found ourselves in the middle of an event commemorating the Zoot Suit Riots of 1943. Classic cars lined the street, creating a river of chrome and glossy paint down Broadway as the owners stood proudly in front of them, dressed to the nines in the signature zoot suits that defined the era. This man, in particular, oozed a quiet confidence and effortless sense of style that I just had to capture.” -Alex Rodrigues

This photograph tells a story of curiosity and mystery. Taken on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the shrouded Chinese Theatre becomes the stage for an elderly couple leaning in, eager to peek behind the curtain. Their sense of adventure is mirrored by another curious onlooker, filling the negative space with perfect spontaneity. The interplay of light, shadow, and texture enhances the scene, drawing viewers into the intrigue of what’s hidden. -Arman Sharif

“It was September 28th at the final show of Mitski's Our Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We tour at the Hollywood Bowl.
Throughout the concert, I was waiting for the " broken chandeliers" to drop for the song, "My Love Mine All Mine". I knew since the beginning of the show, I needed to get a photo of Mitski in the middle of it. The main reason I chose it, was partially due to to the song lyrics and how it is portrayed in this photo. She shines the light on her so she may be the centerpiece of exchange of love between fan and artist. Her love of music and what she does hopes to shine to her fans and the love she receives from her fans, hopes to shine on her as well. “ -Armando Osegueda

“This photograph was taken during a hiking adventure in Irvine during the Covid-19 lockdown, and was a quick snap of the one of the cyclists passing through one of the trails. The contrast, apocalyptic mood, and captured motion of the photo is what inspired me to send in my application to participate in this event. I'm very grateful to the hosts as this is my first venture into displaying my photography. “ -Bryan Ray

“During my travels through Toronto in August 2024, I stumbled upon a basketball tournament called Battle of the Square, hosted by the Mabuhay Philippines Festival at Nathan Phillips Square. It brought a sense of nostalgia as I roamed the event, reminding me of my younger years playing in a Filipino basketball league in Chicago and traveling to Toronto for intercity tournaments. I chose to submit this photo because the experience connected with me on a personal level, and I wanted to share the feeling of loving a photo even before it’s developed. We all have a few of those moments.” -Christopher Basco

“This photo was taken at Bodie State Historical Park in 2017 using a Hasselblad 500cm, 60mm lens, and TMax 100 film. What's interesting to me is all of the buildings have not been restored but are frozen in time under what the park calls “arrested decay”. “-Charles Pitts

“"The Stronghold of Copenhagen" captures the timeless charm of Kastellet, a 17th-century star-shaped military fortress in Copenhagen. I was drawn to the playful yet functional simplicity of the drawbridge, the surrounding moat, and the grassy hill that conceals an active military presence. The geometric precision of the fortress's star design reflects a harmonious blend of form and function. This photograph celebrates the balance of history and utility, inviting viewers to explore the hidden stories within its fortified walls.” -Chase Lincoln

“I spent the day with my fiance in Atlanta, walking the Belt Line, enjoying St Patrick's Day, admiring the combination of architecture in the area ranging from modern buildings and skyscrapers to modern homes with the perfect combination of modern and old school brick exteriors. Late at night, as we were coming to our car, I happened to look up and see the end of this building, with the staircase lit up and I loved the juxtaposition of mirrored glass to empty space to a smooth concrete building. I brought my camera to my face, snapped a singular picture to document the moment and kept walking. Looking back on it, I love that I only took the one photo as it fits my style of simply capturing moments of time compared to doctoring up a beautiful scene.” -Daniel Magier

“ shot this image while on a getaway in Palm Springs. It was extremely hot that day, and any plans of exploring were quickly shut down. The only place to relax and really take in the surroundings was the pool area. Inspired by old photo books featuring pools, I wanted to capture something simple that leant itself to nostalgia and the luxury that is a refreshing dip on a hot summer day. Pools almost always look great on film, and the surrounding colors really worked for me. The composition, while simple, is very calming and almost invites you to take a dip in the pool, making it an easy choice for the gallery.” -Fernando Marquez

“The backdrop, a series of photos depicting a variety of human emotions, affections, and interactions, is mirrored in the couple viewing them, holding hands and having a perceptible connection with what they are looking at. The coincidental similarity of the vivid colors of the photos with the outfit and appearance of the couple is what makes the shot appealing to me. The majority of my street and people photography is in black and white; here, I was interested in finding an uplifting, more colorful side of life inside an art show. (And having published a book on street photography in black-and-white earlier this year, the selection of a color print for this show rounds out the photography year 2024 for me.” -Felix Frueh

“This photo was taken at the clock inside the Musée D'Orsay in Paris. Looking through the clock and across the Seine, you can see the Jardin de Tuileries and the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre in the distance. To me, this image symbolizes a child looking toward a moment in time that they will eventually experience. They may not have the means to be there now but it's a moment that will happen in their strand. They imagine themselves experiencing that future moment as they are now. In that moment, their life experience will have changed their experience. That moment won't be the same as they imagine it now.” -James Fitzgerald

“Yosemite has always been a haven to me and this shot was a culmination of timing and luck. It was a very rainy morning in the lower valley and I was on my last roll of film with my Pentax 645 at Yosemite chapel. Rain typically leads to a more than usually empty valley so most of my roll was landscape focused. I was down to one or two shots and happened to turn around and at that moment this individual just happened to be the only person I had seen in about 15/20 minutes and the composition set itself. My favorite thing about this image is it really captures the grand scale of Yosemite and puts the valley into perspective. His clothing makes for a nice color pop of contrast against the earth toned neutral back drop. Once again, some shots hold the narrative of right place, right time and this one definitely checks that box.” -Jojo Ortiz

“This photograph was taken during my first solo trip to Europe. While visiting the park in front of the Eiffel Tower, I noticed a busker entertaining kids blowing bubbles. Without thinking to much, I quickly moved focus to inifinity, angled the camera towards the Eiffel Tower, and pressed down on the shutter crossing my fingers in my mind. The shot was personally significant since it felt like a culmination of all the photography skills I built out at that point.” -Kenny Yokoyama

“This image was shot in California's Bodie State Historic Park. The ghost town was preserved incredibly well and among many of what used to be miners' homes, this house caught my eye. It provided a wonderful composition with details on the wooden structure and a glimpse of the hills surrounding this ghost town. The front porch center of frame makes me wonder about the last time its owner stepped out from it.” -Kevin Hong Yin

“I like to show the bridge’s combination of beauty, stability and reliability with more than 100 years of history and the dynamic and energy of new life. This teaches us to respect our history and legacy and at the same time never stop developing and creating something new.” -Mariya Klyachko

“The photograph was taken at the Chicago Union Station. It captures a moment at a bustling train station, evoking a sense of transition and anonymity. The man in the foreground, with his trench coat and intense expression, appears lost in thought, contrasting sharply with the group of passengers behind him. The stark black-and-white tones amplify the moodiness and noir quality to the photo. This image stood out to me because it tells a story of solitude amidst the chaos of travel, leaving room for an observer’s interpretation.” -Niel Apostol
“In this piece, the artist captures a moment of clarity, where human form meets the vastness of the sky. The monochromatic palette enhances the play between light and dark, emphasizing the contrast between the lines of the figure and the expansiveness of the clouds. The upward tilt of the subject's face suggests a moment of introspection or surrender to the moment. This image invites viewers to pause, reflect, and embrace the little things in life. Image was taken in the Roma Norte neighborhood of Mexico City. 2023” -Nolis Anderson
