Obscura Terms
Obscura Terms
Obscura is provided by B&C LLC. By downloading or using Obscura, you agree to these Terms.
App Store license
Your license to use Obscura is governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These Terms address additional matters specific to Obscura and do not replace Apple's agreement.
Exposure guidance
Obscura is an exposure guide for film photography. It does not measure the light in a scene and is not a substitute for a light meter.
Obscura estimates a shutter speed using information such as the lighting condition, film speed, aperture, exposure adjustment, weather, and sun times.
Actual conditions can differ from those shown or selected in the app. Subject brightness, reflected light, filters, equipment accuracy, reciprocity failure, film development, terrain, weather, and other factors may affect an exposure.
Obscura's results are estimates, not guarantees. You are responsible for evaluating the conditions and choosing your final exposure.
Weather and sun information
Obscura may use current weather information from Apple Weather to suggest a lighting condition. Weather information may be delayed, unavailable, or different from the conditions immediately around you.
Obscura's weather suggestions are a starting point, not a measurement of the light in front of you. You remain responsible for selecting the lighting condition and final exposure.
YOUR USE OF THIS REAL TIME WEATHER GUIDANCE APPLICATION OR WEBSITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. WEATHER DATA MAY NOT BE ACCURATE. Apple Weather Data may vary from actual conditions due to variable factors, such as signal issues and geopolitical events, that can affect the accuracy of Apple Weather Data.
Sunrise, sunset, and golden-hour times are calculated from your approximate location. They are estimates and may not account for terrain, elevation, buildings, or other obstructions.
Do not rely on Obscura, its weather information, or its sun-time information for emergency, navigational, or other safety-critical decisions.
Camera and lens information
Obscura includes a reference database of camera and lens models. Manufacturer names, model names, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify compatible photographic equipment.
B&C LLC is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those manufacturers unless expressly stated.
We make reasonable efforts to keep this information accurate but do not guarantee that every listing is complete or error-free.
Ownership
Obscura, including its software, design, name, icon, written content, and original database content, is owned by B&C LLC or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
These Terms do not grant you ownership of Obscura or permission to use B&C LLC's names, marks, or creative assets outside your personal use of the app.
Disclaimer
Obscura is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, B&C LLC disclaims warranties regarding the app's availability, accuracy, reliability, or suitability for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, B&C LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of Obscura.
This includes, without limitation, lost or unsatisfactory photographs, missed photographs, exposed or unexposed film, processing costs, equipment-related loss, or reliance on inaccurate weather or exposure information.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Obscura changes. The effective date at the top of this page will show when they were last revised.
