Obscura is made by B&C LLC. Obscura does not collect personal information automatically through the app. 

Information stored on your device 

Obscura saves the information needed to preserve your selections and show your latest exposure guidance, including: 

• Your selected camera and lens
• Film speed, lighting condition, and aperture
• Exposure adjustments
• Your most recent exposure result

This information is stored locally on your device. On Apple Watch, the latest result is also stored in a shared app container so that the Obscura complication can display it. 

B&C LLC does not receive this information. Deleting the app removes it from your device. 

Location 

Location access is optional. 

With your permission, Obscura uses your approximate location while you are using the app to: 

• Request current weather conditions from Apple Weather
• Suggest an appropriate lighting condition
• Calculate local sunrise, sunset, and golden-hour times
• Determine the correct local time zone and place name

Obscura does not request precise location, use your location in the background, track your movement, save your coordinates, or maintain a location history. 

Weather requests and place-name lookups are sent directly from your device to Apple through services provided by the operating system. B&C LLC does not receive your location. 

You can decline location access and continue using Obscura by selecting the lighting condition yourself. You can also change location access at any time in your device's privacy settings. 

Camera and lens suggestions 

Obscura lets you suggest a camera or lens that is missing from its built-in database. Choosing this option opens a pre-filled message in Apple's Mail composer. 

Nothing is sent unless you choose to send the message. If you do, B&C LLC receives the contents of your email and the email address from which it was sent. 

We use that information only to review your suggestion and, when appropriate, reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your message with other organizations. You may ask us to delete the correspondence at any time. 

Advertising, analytics, and tracking 

Obscura does not: 

• Display advertising
• Track you across apps or websites
• Use an advertising identifier
• Include third-party analytics or crash-reporting software
• Create user accounts or store passwords
• Upload your photos or app settings to B&C LLC
• Access your camera, microphone, contacts, calendars, or health information

Obscura contains no third-party software development kits. 

Apple services 

Obscura uses Apple Weather to retrieve current weather conditions. It also uses Apple Maps services to determine location-related labels such as the local time zone or place name. 

These requests are sent directly from your device to Apple. B&C LLC does not receive, retain, or have access to your location.

Apple handles this information under its own privacy policy and provides protections consistent with those described in this policy. Obscura does not share your information with any other third party. 

Required Apple Weather attribution and information about its weather-data sources are available within Obscura. 

Retention and deletion 

Information saved by Obscura remains on your device until you change it or delete the app. B&C LLC has no copy of that information.

Children 

Obscura is not directed specifically at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. 

Changes to this policy 

We may update this policy if Obscura's features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will show when the policy was last revised.
